Welcome!
Welcome to Chemistry!

My name is Crystal Deville and this will be my first year teaching here at Caney Creek High School.  I went to college at the University of Arkansas- Little Rock, where I majored in Biology and minored in Anthropology.  I have done research on a variety of topics including monarch butterfly migration, red & giant panda nutrition, mice behavior, decomposition, preclinical toxicology studies, and most recently I worked in clinical trials.  I am very excited to be teaching chemistry this year and know that it'll be a good one.

I will make every attempt to keep this site up to date, so please check back often.  Parental involvment is important to me, as is student responsibility and so I encourage everyone to use this site as a valuable source of information.

Please feel free to email me at cdeville@conroeisd.net with any questions or concerns.  I will have conference availability between 8:10-9:00 am.

The Law of Conservation of Mass is used to demonstrate that matter is neither created nor destroyed.  Therefore, in a chemical reaction the mass of the reactants is always equal to the mass of the products.  This means the mass of the items to the left of the arrow are equal to the mass of the items on the right side.

The link below is to an excellent video demonstration of this concept and an explanation of the algebra involved.
